Danielle Lloyd ‘s mum Jackie broke down in tears as she spoke about her devastating fibromyalgia diagnosis on Lorraine this morning.
She appeared alongside her daughter on the sofa and spoke candidly about the illness, revealing that she was in “constant pain”.
Fibromyalgia is believed to affect 1 in 25 and is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body. Other symptoms might include difficulty in sleeping, muscle stiffness, headaches, problems with concentration and memory and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
Jackie revealed that her body had started to change six years ago and that she had assumed it was menopause.
She told Lorraine Kelly: “I was getting aches and pains and and flushes and I thought it was the menopause. Then four years ago it was gradually getting worse – where I was getting so tired I couldn’t get out of bed… the pain was horrendous. And I thought, ‘Something’s happening to me and I don’t know what it is.”
Jackie revealed that she had initially believed that it was arthritis but because the pain wasn’t only in her joints, she realised that it couldn’t have been that.
She was given anti-depressants for the pain but it was only when she visited a Rheumatologist that she was finally diagnosed with fibromyaglia.
Danielle admitted that she had always relied on her mum and that it was “sad to see her like this”.
